Hurricane Ian hit the state of Florida last year quickly becoming the third-costliest weather disaster on record. Fort Myers resident and U.S. Army veteran, Benjamin Hill and his family survived the storm safely but the same couldn’t be said for their home.
“The inside was all flooded out, I lost three cars, only thing that survived was my old classic truck... other than that it wiped it out, I had to throw a lot of stuff to the road,” Benjamin told Kelly Roofing.
On St. Patrick's Day 2023 a roof was generously donated and installed in a joint effort by Kelly Roofing, Owens Corning, and Rebuilding Together.
Rebuilding Together is an organization committed to repairing homes and revitalizing communities across the U.S. Kelly Roofing, one of Florida's largest roofing companies, partners with Rebuilding Together to identify families in need.
When Benjamin Hill applied to replace his failing roof through the Owens Corning Roof Deployement Project, they quickly stepped in by providing the necessary materials knowing it was the right thing to do. As a Platinum Preferred Contractor, Kelly Roofing was contacted to provide labor and they generously agreed.
“Kelly Roofing put a nice, beautiful roof on there, the color is beautiful,” Benjamin said.
Often, Rebuilding Together becomes involved when homeowners lack the financial resources for essential roof repairs. Through collaboration with other organizations, they identify roofing companies, such as Kelly Roofing, willing to donate their labor to restore the damaged roofs. Their mission is to make homes safe through helping those in need and rebuilding communities.
The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project, founded in 2016, collaborates with Platinum Preferred Contractors to honor and protect military families. To date, this initiative has gifted over 400 military members brand-new roofs. Benjamin Hill's is a recent example of one of these successes.
