Investing in More Than Just a Roof®
During the 20th Owens Corning Platinum Conference, Owens Corning Roofing President Gunner Smith reviewed the state of the residential roofing industry in North America. He noted that the repair and remodel segment as well as new housing are favorable for the roofing sector. “We are at a high-water mark in North America for roof repair and remodeling and analysts expect it to grow,” Smith stated. His remarks highlighted investments the company is making to deliver value that goes beyond product, responding to emerging market trends and supporting contractors’ businesses while delivering More Than Just a Roof®.
Owens Corning is committed to supporting the industry by:
Investing in capacity: A newly announced state-of-the-art production plant in the Southeastern U.S. will contribute additional capacity to meet shingle demand.
Investing in sustainability: Owens Corning continues its aspiration to divert 2M tons of shingles from landfills annually. The company is following a two-pronged strategic approach that focuses on deconstructing shingles and separating components for reuse into new shingles and recycling shingles into asphalt paving.
Investing in talent: An online certificate program with Cornell University offers contractors’ teams access to elite education. E-Cornell certificates help employees develop and improve critical business skills including financial, data science, leadership and sales and marketing.
Investing in technology: Contractors’ interest in using technology to efficiently nurture and manage leads is reflected in their use of Owens Corning Tech Stack tools. Smith noted that many Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network members are using the Roofle® tool for generating quotes and are leveraging Lead Management Powered by Toolsey® to manage homeowner leads.
Investing in communities: All of these investments contribute to the communities where America’s contractors live and work. The Platinum Conference concluded by spotlighting the generosity that lies at the heart of the roofing community. Owens Corning and contractors’ commitment to serving the community ranges from Owens Corning Foundation initiatives such as the Roof Deployment Project, Habitat for Humanity and Gary Sinise Foundation to grassroots service projects in communities across the nation.
Closing the 2025 Platinum Conference, Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network members packed 10,000 school supply kits to support A Gift for Teaching, an organization that provides educational resources to inspire future leaders.
