Owens Corning Roofing sales leaders and hundreds of its independent Platinum Preferred Contractors met in San Antonio recently for three days of leadership recognition, peer-to-peer learning and community service.
The company’s annual Platinum Conference also provides opportunities to celebrate success, discuss best practices and share insights across geographies for the mutual benefit of the contractors and their homeowner customers.
Inspired by the contractors’ appreciation for understanding how others build their winning teams and navigate market challenges, a series of peer-led discussions tackled culture, growth and business topics.
Panels focused on accelerating growth, achieving a leadership culture and managing through metrics. Conversations were driven by attendees’ questions and insights about activities in their specific markets. Topics ranged from maximizing revenue opportunities through sales optimization, to sustaining a culture during periods of market expansion and enhancing financial acumen through bottom line management.
“Contractors have immense respect for others who are navigating a complex business landscape,” said Owens Corning National Business Leader Mike Schneider. “The peer-to-peer panel discussions provided a trusted space for contractors to listen to one another and consider how those insights apply in their markets.”
Another highlight of the conference was a celebration of community service. The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project has provided new roofs for more than 330 United States veterans since 2016 with labor provided by more than 200 Platinum contractors.
“The program reflects contractors’ respect and appreciation for those who served in the military and the immense gratitude Owens Corning has for those who protect our freedom,” said Abby Donnell, who manages the project and spoke at the conference.
In addition to the Roof Deployment Project, the Owens Corning Foundation partners with the Gary Sinise Foundation and has helped to provide 25 specially adapted smart homes for severely injured veterans. Platinum Conference attendees heard from a veteran recipient about how the gift of an adaptive home has eliminated burdens and helped him continue to serve other veterans.
“Giving back to our nation’s veterans, protecting a family’s home, and creating successful businesses for the next generation of tradesmen and tradeswomen, Platinum contractors lead by example,” said Gunner Smith, president of Roofing at Owens Corning. “All of us at Owens Corning are humbled and honored to work with and serve alongside the Platinum contractor community.”
More than three dozen awards were presented to Platinum contractors during the conference, recognizing demonstrated leadership in multiple categories. Awards were presented in many categories including product excellence, service excellence, community, sustainability, safety and innovation.
