The Roofing Alliance, the foundation of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), proudly announced June 7, 2019, as NRCA Giving Day. Each June, NRCA holds National Roofing Week to share the pride of being a roofing professional and celebrate the generosity of the roofing industry. This year, Roofing Week will be celebrating the roofing industry on June 2-8, 2019.
On Friday, June 7, the NRCA and the Roofing Alliance will be holding a Giving Day to benefit the Roofing Alliance's Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program. This program recognizes one of the industry's greatest leaders, Melvin Kruger, of L.E. Schwartz & Son Inc., Macon, Ga., a former NRCA president and a principal fundraiser at the time the Roofing Alliance was established.
“We are asking everyone to please consider giving generously and making a commitment to the scholarship fund,” stated Josh Kelly, incoming president of the Roofing Alliance and Vice President of Product Development & Innovation of OMG. “Our goal is to raise $100,000 in gifts to provide additional scholarships to college and vocational-technical school students who plan to pursue careers in the roofing or building construction industries which includes architecture; business management; civil, mechanical or structural engineering; and construction management majors.”
The Roofing Alliance, NRCA's foundation, has a long history of commitment to education, training, and scholarship, and donations to the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program, can help shape the future of the roofing industry—one student at a time. Donations of any size are welcome and currently are being accepted here. Giving Day donations will close at 11:59 p.m. CST June 7, 2019.
Donations are tax-deductible as charitable contributions to the extent permitted under federal tax law and can be paid over a period of up to and including five years. “The support of the roofing industry is critical in helping the Roofing Alliance change lives for our next generation while helping to shape the future of our industry,” concluded Kelly.
