Next Gear Solutions Growing with Accurence Merger?

Accurence - Blog - Merger?
September 4, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

By Heidi J. Ellsworth, RCS Partner.

Combined company would demonstrate strength in both contractor and carrier markets.

There are rumors swirling around that Next Gear Solutions has its sights on a merger with Accurence. These are both major, innovative names in the property insurance technology space. Next Gear is the leading software platform for property restoration, focused on supporting the restoration industry; you may recognize its DASH, MICA, LuxorCRM and Moister Mapper products. Accurence bridges the gap between insurance carriers, independent adjusters, and roofing contractors; you may know them from their popular RoofCheck, ScopeAssist, and SettleAssist apps.

Since 2016, Next Gear Solutions has made several large industry acquisitions. In mid-2016, NGS purchased ClientRunner. Then, in January 2017, the industry-leading software company announced the acquisition of LuxorCRM, a sales and marketing software. Several months later, NGS acquired MICA, a leading mitigation software, and in early 2018, Next Gear made more strides, purchasing Moisture Mapper. Accurence, meanwhile, acquired the software division of National Water in February, bringing on board the Prime suite of water mitigation tools.

If this merger pans out, it would position a combined Next Gear/Accurence company to bring together all the water mitigation applications required by four of the five top insurance carriers, streamlining processes for contractors nationwide. It could also see benefits for contractors with more products available under one roof to help them do their jobs.

One big unknown if this merger goes through is how the combined company would brand itself. Next Gear is the bigger company in terms of personnel and estimated revenue, but Accurence has deep ties to major insurance carriers that largely define the industry. A good bet would be on each company maintaining an independent presence, at least in the immediate term, while they work to see how their products can be integrated and marketed.

Keep your eye on this space. You’ll be the first to know if the rumors are true!
