National Women in Roofing (NWIR) announces first annual NWIR Roofing Day Women’s Luncheon

NWIR Roofing Day Luncheon
March 28, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

NWIR Roofing Day Women’s Luncheon will feature Congresswomen Angie Craig (MN-02) and Suzan DelBene (WA-01)

Denver, Colorado - National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a national organization focused on the empowerment of women within the roofing industry, is proud to announce their first annual NWIR Roofing Day Women’s Luncheon featuring Congresswomen Angie Craig (MN-02) and Suzan DelBene (WA-01).

The NWIR event will take place April 3, 2019 starting at 11 a.m. at Charlie Palmer Steakhouse.  The luncheon will precede the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) 2019 Roofing Day which will attract over 500 roofing professionals to Washington, D.C. for a day on the hill to discuss issues important to the roofing trade.

Both Congresswomen will discuss jobs and the economy with a special focus on the need for vocational training for the trades.  Knowing that women are an important part of the equation to help fill the labor shortage, NWIR continues to promote education and discussion on how to attract more women into roofing.  During the luncheon, women and men will discuss workforce training incentives, immigration reform and infrastructure legislation which are all a part of the overall NRCA agenda for Roofing Day.  The women’s luncheon will address these important initiatives and how women can play a greater role in finding solutions.

“Women have been involved in politics for a long time in their local communities and now are becoming a force on the national arena with the 2018 election seeing women elected to Congress and to state and municipal offices in record numbers,” stated Jennifer Stone, NWIR Chair.  “There are many ways for women to have a voice and be politically engaged without running for office.  One of those ways is to attend events like the NRCA Roofing Day and NWIR Roofing Day Luncheon.  By having meaningful conversations with other women and men in the roofing industry and participating in Roofing Day, we can make sure that members of Congress are hearing directly from the roofing industry and women overall about our thoughts and concerns.”

To register for the event which will take place at the Charlie Palmer Steakhouse, located at 101 Constitution Avenue NW, 9th Floor, visit here.  For information on Roofing Day please visit www.nrca.net/roofingday.
