After announcing their search for a new Executive Director earlier this year, NWiR has officially filled the role with Alabama resident, Katie Bodiford. With a background of working within the construction industry and over two decades of leadership experience, Katie was chosen to fulfill the role and lead the organization in their aspirations and goals for the future.
Earlier this week, on Monday, November 20, the 2023 Chair, Jennifer Keegan, and Vice-chair, Anna Anderson, led a press conference announcing Katie as the official executive director of the organization. Katie shared with attendees the details of her experience within the industry, having served in leadership positions with both Construction Suppliers Association and the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association.
Since starting the position earlier this month, Katie has taken on a great interest in meeting with as many NWiR members as she can, as well as immersing herself in the culture and goals the organization strives to achieve with their ten-year anniversary soon approaching.
NWiR has many goals they want to achieve by their tenth anniversary, which will be in only three short years in 2026. In that time, Katie shared that she hopes to make an impact in empowering both women and allies of women in the industry. Katie noted that issues they hope to address include the labor shortage the industry is seeing and bridging the gap by finding opportunities for members of the industry.
