National Women in Roofing Announce Scholarships to Attend the 2020 International Roofing Expo© and NWIR Day

NWIR Network of Educating Women Scholarship
November 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

The organization announced the scholarship for roofing contractors based on its goals of mentoring, education, networking and recruitment.

National Women in Roofing Day is slated for Sunday, February 2, 2020 in Dallas, Texas, prior to the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) Convention and the International Roofing Expo (IRE). NWIR just announced its N.E.W.S. scholarship to “to encourage first time attendees who work for a roofing contractor to experience the benefits of professional development in the roofing industry.  Attendance at these events can influence one’s career trajectory and benefit not just [for] the attendee, but her company/employer as well.”

NWIR Day has been expanded this year to be a full day event running from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It’s not just another professional development conference. It is an event designed specifically for women working in the roofing industry for the purpose of growing their careers and strengthening their businesses.

Benefits include:

  • Attendance at NWIR Day on February 2nd
  • IRE Tradeshow Expo Pass
  • Super Pass to Education Sessions February 4-6
  • NRCA Awards Banquet
  • Hotel accommodations (not to exceed $1,500)
  • Roundtrip airfare (not to exceed $800)
  • Tailored agenda with host provided by NWIR Mentorship Committee
  • Each attendee and her employer will be responsible for meals, ground transportation and incidentals.

Applicants must be a current member of NWIR and must be either working as a roofing contractor or employed by one. Recipients must agree to attend NWIR Day, educational sessions at the conference, including the NWIR hosted session and the IRE. They will also be expected to volunteer a couple of hours to work in the NWIR booth at the expo. A statement summarizing the experiences of each recipient is expected and may be published in the NWIR blog and newsletter.  If the recipient is an employee, they must submit a written statement from their employer that grants them paid time off to travel from February 1 – 6, 2020.

Applications must be submitted by November 20, 2019 and winners will be notified December 9, 2019.

How awesome! I'd love to be a part of this someday. I've been a woman in the construction industry for 5 years now and I LOVE these types of events. It's great to get together and discuss everything and just networking with other women in the industry. Gr
