MRCA St. Louis Show a Record Setter! 

Here’s what happened at the 2017 MRCA Expo. 

Expo Floor - The contractors from the St. Louis area were out in full force to meet up with their MRCA peers from across the region.  Attendance was up this year and there was more on the floor to see and do.  From the vehicle displays and live demos in the Arrowhead Steep Slope University to the fully functional Tennsmith Sheet Metal Shop, from the excitement of the Malarkey Shingle Race to the fully-stocked Allied Building Supply and BPM Insurance Sports Lounge, it was an exciting Expo full of food, fun, and fellowship! Thanks to our many exhibitors and sponsors who went above and beyond this year to create such an amazing event! 

Stellar Educational Programs - The education programs at this year’s Conference received high ratings from attendees.  They included more interactive sessions, popular roundtables, and some VERY lively discussions of hot topics such as ISO board issues and the increasing use of labor only subcontracts!  This year’s program had a bit of everything to sharpen a contractor's competitive edge including: innovative sales strategies; technical issues; legal updates; financial management; and model safety policies! 

Foundation Auction - The MRCA Foundation had an unbelievable year at Conference.  This year’s Foundation Fundraiser Auction brought in a record high of funds at just over $90,000.  The Auction itself raised over $45,000, but the overall total could not have been achieved without one particular individual and his matching challenge gift. Outgoing MRCA Foundation President, Larry Marshall, from L. Marshall Roofing and Sheet Metal of Chicago, Illinois put up a $15,000 matching funds challenge to everyone in the room.  The crowd responded with another $29,500 for a total of $44,500! 

YCC Bowl O Rama - The MRCA Foundation also received a record high of support from the MRCA Young Contractors Council Bowl-O-Rama event.  Raising quadruple the amount that is normally generated at this annual service event, the YCC brought in another $4,800 for the Foundation!   

The two events got the Foundation to the $95,000 mark in a matter of two days!  The MRCA Membership came together in a strong way this year to make a statement about the importance of Roofing Industry research, education and scholarship funding.
