Mobile Payment Transactions are the Future

Beacon Mobile Payment Transactions

How working with a distributor offering mobile payment processing can future proof your business and help you manage your financial workload.

As a contractor, you always need to be looking to how future technologies are changing so you can place your business ahead of the curve. In the past few years mobile payment processing has become the new norm. According to a global report from Mordor Intelligence mobile payment transactions will be more popular than payment through cards and cash by 2025. Find a roofing distributor that offers mobile payment so you can not only manage your financial workload but secure a future market before everyone else.

How mobile bill payments work

Mobile payments are transactions conducted via mobile devices such as a smartphone or tablet. There are two types of mobile payment processing options: mobile credit card swiping and mobile money transfer. In the first option, the merchant attaches a reader to their smartphone or tablet to collect payments via credit card, rather than at a traditional point-of-sale register or terminal system. Square, Shopify and PayAnywhere are examples of mobile credit card readers.

For mobile money transfer, also known as mobile wallet, the payment method is linked to a bank account and the merchant can receive payment via transfer, instead of cash, checks or physical credit cards. Services such as PayPal, Venmo and Google Wallet are the most common types of mobile money transfers, which can also be used in combination with mobile credit card swiping.

In both mobile payment options, the customer's information is tokenized, which means the credit card information is not stored on the mobile device. Each time a customer enters their card information, it is converted into a one-time-use security code or "token" that is verified by the bank to complete the transaction. This means each transaction is completely secure and cannot be hacked.

Managing your financial workload

Working with a distributor like Beacon Building Products, which offers mobile payment processing through its Beacon Pro+ and BillTrust tool, is an attractive technology option that can help roofing contractors save time, pay their bills more efficiently and manage their business.

Through Beacon Pro+, contractors can order materials, view their order history, track rebates, schedule and track deliveries or find a Beacon Building Products location — all from their mobile device. BillTrust allows contractors to manage the financial aspects of their Beacon account, such as accessing invoices and payment history, scheduling future payments, integrating billing information and business accounting software and providing email notifications of new invoices and statements.

An attractive option for contractors

Roofing contractors are always on the go, working on multiple projects and jobsites at the same time. Staying flexible and increasing their profitability means they need 24/7 access to the functionality and information that enables them to work smarter and faster in today's competitive environment. Mobile payment processing and automated order workflows allow contractors to maximize productivity, order materials with confidence and stay ahead of the competition.

Mobile bill payment platforms like Beacon Pro+ and BillTrust not only provide an extra level of security, they're also tailored to meet the needs of professional contractors. They're an easy-to-use solution that contractors can trust and share among business partners. And if a team member loses their mobile device, all their account information is backed up in the cloud and can be easily accessed or even deleted.

Busy roofing contractors need all the daylight hours they can get for completing current jobs and finding the next roofing bid in the pipeline. Mobile billing and ordering solutions can help you skip a trip to the post office and pay for materials on the go.
