A St. Louis residential and commercial paving company has won the first annual Angie’s List “Work with the Best” sweepstakes grand prize, a $45,000 new truck.
Marty Sontheimer, a co-owner of Metro Paving Company, said winning the contest was a great surprise. The 56-year-old company founded by Jim Sontheimer, Sr. is run today by his sons Bruce, Jim and Marty.
Metro Paving earned its first Angie’s List review in 2004 and has won eight Angie’s List Super Service Awards, including the 2016 award. The SSAs are earned by companies able to meet an exceptionally high bar for customer service to Angie’s List members within a given year.
“We’re a hands-on business, so one of us is there from the estimate to the finished product, making sure the jobs are done right,” Sontheimer said. “When new driveways are done properly, they don’t come cheap, and some homeowners are surprised by that. Being on Angie’s List has helped us solidify a reputation for quality work, which is key.”
The announcement was made today at the Angie’s List booth at the National Association of Home Builders’ International Builders Show in Orlando. Four other sweepstakes entrants won DeWalt tool sets valued at $3,500.
Sontheimer said he and his brothers are taking a page from the “Pay it Forward” playbook to celebrate their win and will donate $2,500 to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children St. Louis. Angie’s List matched the donation with a one-time contribution from the Angie’s List Foundation sponsorship dollars, which usually are focused on charities located within Angie’s List corporate headquarters on the east side of Indianapolis.
Tool set winners were Jill Reeves of A-Team HVAC in Middleton, New Jersey; Javier Parra of Parrco Electric in Goodyear, Arizona; Walter Czichray of Lakeland Masonry Restoration in Minneapolis; and Steve Briggs of Briggs Tree Service in Lansing, Illinois.
The 2017 “Work with the Best” sweepstakes begins this month. Contractors can visit the contest site to enter to win. The grand prize, again, will be a new work truck.
Registration on the Angie’s List Business Center site is required for entry, both of which is free-of-charge. Entries will continue to be accepted through December 31, 2017. As with the 2016 sweepstakes, quarterly prizes of DeWalt tools will be awarded throughout the year.
