The metal construction industry's annual trade show, METALCON, is more than just an event—it's a hub for innovation, networking and knowledge-sharing. This was the consensus during a recent podcast featuring industry leaders Terry McGuire from New Tech Machinery, Amanda Nordmeyer from Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings and Michelle Kettering from LTD Exteriors.
In a Live Coffee Conversations hosted by Heidi Ellsworth and sponsored by New Tech Machinery, the group discussed various topics ranging from current industry challenges to the impact of technology. One of the major highlights was the discussion about METALCON itself, which all guests agreed serves as a significant platform for discovering new products and technologies.
"We've actually sold a lot of machines already," said Terry, underscoring METALCON’s importance in building relationships with manufacturers and suppliers. Terry also emphasized New Tech Machinery's role in the industry as a leader in portable roll forming, stating, "Finding ways to simplify the machine, to add notching to the machine, to do things to drop labor is something that NTM will continue to concentrate on."
Amanda, representing Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings, highlighted the importance of industry education and collaboration particularly with their MetalVue program. "By growing those partnerships and making those links to show how that can grow the industry as a whole. Everybody benefits from that," she said. Amanda also touched on how technology is making contractor workflows more efficient and user-friendly.
Meanwhile, Michelle from LTD Exteriors emphasized the event's role in driving interest in various products. "We're finding a lot of people coming by and discovering products that they also did not realize were out there," she said. Michelle also spoke about the importance of technology for team collaboration, noting, "So we've looked at different CRMs. There's a great system for each company. You just have to find it. It's important for us to have all that information."
