Previously we shared about the informative and free buyer’s guide the Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) is providing for homeowners. They recently released a new 10-minute video where Todd Miller, Vice Chairman of the Metal Roofing Alliance, takes a more in-depth look at the nine different sections of the buyer’s guide. He explains what is in each section and what homeowners should do when beginning the process of re-roofing their homes.
How do your customers know when it’s time to get a new roof? According to the buyer’s guide, there are signs that indicate it’s time to re-roof: the age of their roof in general, missing, loose, or damaged roof material, a sagging roof, asphalt granules in the gutters, exposed or loose nails, water damage inside their home or attic, missing or damaged flashings, curbs, or roof jackets, and if their heating or cooling bills have increased dramatically. They encourage homeowners to know the signs and to have their roofs inspected regularly.
Once your customer determines they need a new roof, there are five sections that can assist them in making the best roof selection for their home. These sections include considering the climate in which they live, roof material comparisons, different metal roof styles that are available, and metal roofing colors and coatings. There are so many different varieties of styles and colors that can fit any kind of home and personal preference whether homeowners are, “Looking for the charm of traditional cedar shake, or the simplicity of asphalt shingles, or perhaps you’re after the bold and distinctive look of clay tile or natural slate,” according to Todd. They even have a site that allows homeowners to upload a photo of their home and see the different colors and styles of metal roofing choices on their home.
The guide finishes with some suggestions for the homeowner as they get ready to start the re-roofing process. They encourage homeowners to do their homework concerning the type of roof they want installed, the roofing installer and contractor they want to re-roof their home, and the warranty information.
There are many benefits to having a metal roof installed. They are long-lasting, durable, can withstand the elements, they’re a sustainable product, and are low-maintenance. With that being said, “Deciding on what roofing material to use is a big decision, certainly one you should be able to make with great confidence,” Todd shares. This buyer’s guide will provide your customers with that confidence by explaining all of the information they need when making this important decision.
