When tasked with constructing Southern Arizona’s first Vegas-style casino hotel and conference center amidst the unforgiving yet beautiful desert landscape, the design and build team faced a 1.2-million-square-foot challenge. Thanks to the combined efforts of structural engineering by PK Associates, elevated design from HBG Design, technical services from Logicalis and high-quality coatings from Sherwin-Williams, the result is a testament to innovation, sustainability and synergy with the natural environment.
The Desert Diamond West Valley Casino in Glendale, Arizona, is an architectural masterpiece, highlighting an environmentally conscious design and careful construction practices.
The Desert Diamond West Valley Casino’s design takes inspiration from the desert’s natural beauty and life force. At the heart of its design is a remarkable exterior crafted with two million pounds of steel frame, pre-cast and tilt-up concrete and natural stratified rock native to the region. These materials were chosen not only for their structural integrity but also for their alignment with sustainable building practices. This thoughtful approach allowed it to become the second casino in the United States to earn Green Globes certification.
A beautiful feature of the casino is its warm, copper-toned facade, achieved through a custom Fluropon® finish from Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings. Fluropon is Sherwin-Williams flagship 70% PVDF coating system. Known for its superior durability and exceptional color retention, Fluropon guarantees that the building’s facade will remain vibrant against the harsh desert climate.
