Construction of Johns Manville’s new 420,000 sq ft Polyiso plant and distribution center in Hillsboro, Texas is nearing completion! While the checklist to completion is still in progress, there are a few key milestones to celebrate as we inch closer to the official opening in the first quarter of 2022. Some additional accomplishments so far: Plant Manager, Josh Canada and team are working to hire a complete staff, the plant’s official Certificate of Occupancy is in place, and product has started arriving to stock the distribution center, which is the first operational portion of the building officially opened in December 2021.
JM values employees and the communities they live and work in and we are honored to invest in the town Hillsboro, bringing 50 new jobs to the local economy and looking forward to long-term growth in the roofing industry. The town of Hillsboro and the Hillsboro Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) recently celebrated a first-time award in it’s nearly 30-year history, they received the Community Economic Development Award (CEDA), presented by the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC). With this momentum, JM is excited to continue the hiring process and complete the much anticipate new team in Hillsboro.
Meet a Few of JM’s new team members:
Johns Manville is excited to welcome its newest Team Members to the Hillsboro Team.
Melissa Ritchie. Melissa comes to JM from PepsiCo and will be the plant EH&S Specialist, she brings to the team lots of knowledge and expertise.
Susana Perez. Susana comes to JM from Tractor Supply DC, where she was the HR Coordinator. She will be the HR Representative; she brings new ideas and new perspectives on recruiting strategies.
Dominick Phillips. Dominick has been with JM since 2017 as a Process Engineer in our Scottsboro, Alabama Plant and was promoted to Plant Engineer in 2019.
Brad Smiley. Brad joined JM in 1999 and has held various positions at our plant in McPherson, KS. He has been located at our Cleburne, Texas distribution center since 2014 as Warehouse Supervisor and DC Manager in Grand Prairie since 2016.
Ray Mohaimani. Ray will be joining our JM family this month, as our Process Engineer. Ray brings five years of Process Engineering and Operations Leadership along with a strong background in Chemical Engineering.
JM is thrilled to invest in the town of Hillsboro, Texas and offer an economical benefit of the plant being a short distance to the largest consolidation of roofing contractors in the nation, located in the Southwest region. We have transitioned material to the new Hillsboro distribution center and have officially opened for outbound shipments and customer pick-ups as of December 2021.
