Meet Chris Dodds – the Winner of General Coatings Optical Comparator

Chris is the first winner from Canada and was excited to be the lucky winner.

Congratulations to Chris Dodds, the owner of Woodchuck Bros Construction in Ontario Canada. He is a recent winner of the General Coatings giveaway. We had the chance to speak with Chris and congratulate him on his win.

Chris shared with me that he has run Woodchuck Bros Construction’s roofing division for 12 years and that it is now the largest division of the company, even though the remodeling side was established five years earlier than the roofing division. I asked him my standard question of how he got into roofing and I am never disappointed in the variety of answers that I get. Chris said, “I was short of work, and a guy that I was working with needed a hand with doing odd jobs for a roofing company,” explained Chris. “I did that for a while before going out on my own.”

He said that his company does mostly residential work but at times will perform service work and repair work on the commercial side. I was curious as to the origin of his business name and asked about the meaning behind the name.

“It was an old high school nickname that a teacher used to call me and a friend in woodshop class,” said Chris. “We used to just crank out new projects all the time, so he called us the Woodchuck Brothers. I thought it was catchy and I have a couple of brothers that work in the trades so it would be fitting if they ever joined.”

Chris really enjoys working in roofing saying that every day is different. “It is something new every day. You never know when you open something up what you will find.”

He said he also likes the resources that he finds on RoofersCoffeeShop. “There is a variety of information and resources on the site. If someone has a question, there’s always someone around that has the answer. It’s great for getting questions answered and to learn about new and different products that are coming.”

Chris enjoys visiting the Promos & Rebates page on RCS saying, “It makes my wife really happy to see all the free samples coming in the door.”
