NRCA Reschedules National Roofing Week
May 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

By Lauren White, RCS Reporter.

After much deliberation, NRCA has cancelled Roofing Day in D.C. 2020 and rescheduled National Roof Week.

In light of the current situation the United States and the world face due to the coronavirus, many events have been cancelled or postponed.  The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) has also made the tough decision to postpone and reschedule their events, including National Roofing Week and Roofing Day in D.C. 2020.

Roofing Day in D.C., which was scheduled for April 21-22, 2020, has been cancelled until next year.  NRCA is following the guidelines set out by the Centers for Disease Control, which “strongly recommended the cancellation of all events involving more than 50 participants because of the ongoing public health crisis related to the novel coronavirus,” NRCA shares.  Additionally, meetings of more than 250 people are prohibited in Washington, D.C., per the District of Columbia government.

Having the health and safety of all participants at the forefront of their concerns, NRCA chose to cancel Roofing Day in D.C. 2020.  The size and scope of the event made it challenging for them to reschedule at a later date this year.  However, they are already making plans for Roofing Day in D.C. 2021, which will take place March 23-24, 2021!  Registration fees for this year will be rolled over to Roofing Day 2021.

While Roofing Day in D.C. 2020 won’t be taking place this year, we can still look forward to celebrating National Roofing Week on August 23-29, 2020.  Typically taking place in June, National Roofing Week raises awareness about the important role roofs serve for each home and business in the United States.  During National Roofing Week, good deeds of the industry are shared, the value of hiring a professional roofing contractor is promoted, in addition to expressing the importance of making informed decisions regarding the maintenance and replacement of roof systems.

More information about how to participate in National Roofing Week will be released later.  However, you can check out highlights from previous celebrations of National Roofing Week!

While it’s disappointing to have events cancelled and postponed, it’s the best decision to protect everyone’s health and safety during these trying times.  However, there are already two NRCA events to look forward to later this year and even next year.  Don’t forget to mark your calendars!
