Malco Products: Proudly Serving Sheet Metal Professionals

Jon Olson shares the history of Malco Products, how they came to be and the hard work their team puts into creating quality products for their customers.  

In an episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, host Karen Edwards sat down with Jon Olson, market research analyst and mechanical-manufacturing engineer at Malco Products, to discuss the brand’s history and what they have in store for the near future.  

Founded by the Keymer family in the 1950s, Malco Products has a long history of serving the home improvement and construction industries. By providing sheet metal and innovative tools for the industry, Malco has created a lasting legacy that is dedicated to pushing the envelope of innovation.  

Jon emphasized Malco’s dedication to continuing that legacy by transitioning to an employee-owned company.  “It was a strategic transition. And to this day we're now 100% employee owned.  We truly are, as employees of Malco, the owners,” Jon shared.  

He shared the advantage this decision has given the company and its employee owners, saying, “What is neat is we all bring engagement, regardless of our role into what we do on our daily, and we really see a value in making sure that the many trade professionals that we serve not only receive a value, but have someone that they can be confident leaning on for engineered solutions for the value they try to provide their customers.” 

By truly taking in and considering customer feedback, the Malco team is incorporating those suggestions and changes to their tool designs and solutions, delivering the best possible results that their customers can rely on. And those commitments paid off. This year, Malco Products was announced as the winner of the 2023 Pro Tool Innovation Award for its Andy Aluminum Handled Offset Left Snips and the Adjustable Siding Gauge.  

The Malco team doesn’t plan to stop there, either. The Malco Products team has committed a great deal of time and energy to creating a line of quality metal benders this year. This exciting new line will be officially launched at the 2023 METALCON convention, and Jon insists attendees stop by the Malco Products booth, #1804, to see it in action.
