Malarkey’s Industry-Leading Shingles Exemplify Their Longstanding Commitment to Sustainability

Malarkey Roofing Products provides shingles to the Oklahoma Home Builders Association.

Malarkey Roofing Products is providing 180 squares of sustainably-designed Vista roofing shingles for the Oklahoma Home Builders Association (HBA) new office building. The project is set to begin soon and the building’s progress can be monitored on the Oklahoma HBA’s Facebook page.

“We appreciate being involved with the Oklahoma Home Builders Association’s new office building,” said James Malarkey in a short video promoting the project, “This is a great way to display our product and work in conjunction with the HBA.”

For this project, Malarkey Roofing is using products made locally in Oklahoma City, a huge win for everyone involved. The HBA will have state-of-the-art polymer modified impact resistant shingles installed on their new roof, the Oklahoma community will have more jobs created by Malarkey, and other local businesses will source the materials for the shingle.

Another winner in this equation is the environment. Malarkey Roofing Products has made an enormous effort towards sustainability in their products and manufacturing process. The Vista shingles being used for this project are created from the following upcycled materials: 30 rubber tires and over 12 thousand plastic water bottles, all of which was diverted from landfills. Additionally, the latest granule technology provides the smog cleaning capacity of more than a dozen trees.

Along with the company’s sustainably-designed and manufactured NEX polymer modified asphalt shingle, this project will also feature geothermal energy and 2” x 6” framing for additional insulation. The project will be a great example of building construction for the Oklahoma Home Builders.

The innovative Vista shingles are designed to be flexible and resilient to hail and wind, and they don’t break the bank.

“Malarkey’s polymer modified shingles also provide an affordable alternative roof to the standard oxidized asphalt shingles. Many insurance companies offer homeowners potential discounts on their insurance for using impact-resistant shingles,” said Malarkey.

The roofing for this project is set to begin around mid-September and will be finished sometime in October. The entire building will likely be completed by the end of the year. After its completion, a dedication and press event featuring the vendors and partners, like Malarkey, will follow.

Malarkey is excited to promote their Vista shingle, a shingle part of an entire line of polymer modified shingles that makes an example of Malarkey’s commitment to sustainability.

“We look forward to working with the HBA and Oklahoma to see a brighter future for everyone,” said Malarkey.
