Long Beach Roofing Staff Grows With New Project Coordinator

The new project coordinator has a strong background in the construction industry. 

Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal, a leading commercial roofing company with its headquarters in Oregon, has hired Gary Harn as a Project Coordinator at Long Beach Roofing, Inc., located at 1920 Obispo Ave., Signal Hill, California.

The 85-year-old roofing company was acquired by Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal in 2014.

Harn is responsible for fielding in-coming calls, scheduling, work orders, managing Dataforma, material orders and deliveries, metal fabrication and forklift operations.  He also offers support to Project Manager Terry Brown. 

Most recently, Harn worked in sales and business development for a solar company in Long Beach.  He has about 15 years working in the construction industry, primarily as a foreman at his father’s plastering company. 

“Gary is a great support to our sales team in Southern California,” said Mark Carpenter, CEO of Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal.  “He brings youth and enthusiasm to his role as project coordinator.”

When he’s not working, the California native is following his passion of skydiving; currently working on earning his C-license.  Harn took his first dive in 2005.  Today, he has 140 jumps under his belt, and he said wingsuiting is the next step for him.

“After my first tandem skydive with an instructor it set a fire inside me,” he noted.  “When I jumped again with some friends, I knew there was no turning back.  I love the feeling of absolute freedom I gain from jumping; nothing else matters but this intense moment when I feel most alive.  I get to fly through the sky, like I’ve always dreamed of when I was young.  My goal is to turn this hobby into a career at some point.
