Local Tennessee municipal building stuns with modern exterior

Sherwin-Williams Local Tennessee Municipal Building
November 1, 2023 at 6:00 a.m.

By Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings.

This major project features a sleek, eye-catching metal exterior and roof, designed to stay stylish and modern for decades to come!

Designing a building made for community use and enjoyment means using materials that are also designed to last a lifetime or more. Metal siding and roofing were certainly the way to go, and the teams behind this project entrusted the Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings’ line of finishes to give the municipal building a modern, inviting look.

Located in the heart of Dolly Parton country, the new multi-purpose municipal building in Sevier County, Tennessee needed to be designed with a sense of warmth befitting the historic county. The $3.5-million facility functions with versatility as both a home to Sevier County Utility District (SCUD) and as a convention center for the local community to gather for meetings, events or parties.

Designing this mega-project was tasked to BarberMcMurry Architects. From Dollywood to the Great Smoky Mountains, the team understood this structure would have to fit in with significant parts of Tennessee culture. They had to make sure it was both welcoming and functional. One way they achieved this was by including extensive window treatments and open multifunction meeting areas throughout the building. The metal roof and wall panels are finished in a prominent Berkshire Blue Fluropon® finish from Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings — complementing SCUD’s signature utility gas-flame blue. The Petersen PAC-CLAD product line allowed for cost effectiveness for the 13,400 square feet of 24-gauge steel sheet panels used for the roof. Additionally, 3,500 square feet of Snap-Clad panels coated in Musket Gray Fluropon® were used as wall cladding surrounding two sides of the building.
