LIVE from METALCON 2023 with Tom Laird and New Tech Machinery!

New Tech LIVE for METALCON with Tom Laird
January 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

By Jonny Suchor.

Tom Laird highlights some of the new products offered by New Tech Machinery while emphasizing recent trends in the roofing industry.

You won’t want to miss this special interview from METALCON’s live sound stage, brought to you by New Tech Machinery. Host Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down with Tom Laird, senior account manager at New Tech Machinery to talk about what’s new.

Since 1991, New Tech Machinery has been known for its versatile roofing machines. Tom explains, “We manufacture the world's finest portable roll forming machines, standing seam roofing machines, seamless gutter machines and specialty machines for the metal construction industry.”

Contractors who are interested in expanding their business can do so by offering siding in addition to roofing. And that’s where the machines at New Tech come in handy. Contractors can create siding profiles from the same machine they make roofing panels with. This saves expenses by not having separate machines, in addition to time.

Lately, there has been a lot of excitement around their new board and baton panel profile, a vertical siding panel style that replicates the classic wood panel look and meets the market demands for both residential and commercial buildings. “There is a huge demand for that profile across North America, and we can’t make enough of them, which is a good problem to have,” says Tom. Demand for metal roofing continues to increase due to its strength, weather resistance and aesthetically pleasing appearance. More people want metal on their roofs.

Tom truly believes in New Tech’s barn and batten profile as it is the very roof he has on his own home. He shares, “It gives you that classic barn-style look. It is the trend in our world, it is certainly doing very well for us.”
