An icon in the roofing industry is passing the torch to his son, who is following in his fathers’ large footsteps. The June issue of Florida Roofing Magazine has a full article on this transition that you won’t want to miss!
For decades, George Allaster, Sr. has been the metal roofing industry’s go-to authority on ventilation. He has educated thousands about the importance of proper ventilation and his presentations, sometimes to audiences of 500+, were so informative he became known as “Mr. Goodvent.”
The article presents a nice overview of his stellar career, from the late 1950’s when we joined 3M in Canada, to his current “retired” status of answering ventilation questions from Marco customers on a weekly basis.
While that story is interesting on its own, it’s his son who adds a special spark. George Jr. decided to follow his dad into the metal roofing industry, first helping make Galvalume® a household name to his current position as Eastern Regional Sales Director for Marco—a position that has taken him to Florida where his father lives.
“I’m lucky to follow in my dad’s footsteps,” says George Allaster, Jr., “earning my customers’ trust by educating them and offering the industry’s best metal roofing ventilation and accessories. Amazingly, from the same company and in the same state as my dad did.”
The two Georges are different, to be sure. But you can certainly see where George Jr. gets his drive and passion for educating his customers on metal roof ventilation.
It’s a short read, and a great one. Make sure you check it out. Maybe Mr. Goodvent or his son can answer some questions for you.
