Let the walls breathe

Quarrix Let the walls breathe

By using ProTect Furring Strips, you can incorporate long-lasting moisture protection in the walls of your next project.

Moisture in the walls of any project can lead to a host of issues. This includes compromising structural integrity and the health of the building’s occupants due to issues like mold growth, insulation inefficiency and electrical damage. But with the proper moisture intrusion prevention methods, such as regular inspection, proper ventilation and the right moisture-resistant products, it is easier to mitigate moisture-related issues.

An example of one such product is Quarrix’s ProTect Furring Strips. These strips are installed around the edges of the wall and along the studs and any trim around windows. They are uniquely designed with small air channels that allow moisture to escape. Further, these channels act as a ventilation system, allowing for the vertical and horizontal flow of air that keeps the wall assembly dry and safe from moisture damage.

The strips are an incredibly durable solution that will not warp or split like more traditional wood products. Further, they are mold and mildew resistant and have a built-in insect barrier. Another bonus of these products is their adaptability and versatility. They are compatible with a variety of siding materials, including fiber cement, wood, stone, lap siding, shakes, board and batten, and open-joint systems. They are easy to cut to whatever length is needed and come in a variety of thicknesses, further proving their versatility. From as thin as 5/16 of an inch to 3/4 of an inch, you can find the right furring strip for whatever job you have. Quarrix has also recently released strips with a 1/2-inch thickness, leveling up the versatility of the product.

Check out the Quarrix site to learn more about the ProTect Furring Strips and see how they are installed in this video.
