Just how hard is the Titan XT® shingle to pull off?

Tamko Just how hard is the Titan XT® shingle to pull off?
July 23, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

By Cayden Wemple.

Titan XT shingles are some of the most durable shingles in roofing and a simulated pull test can prove it.

If you live in an area that is prone to hurricanes and/or areas with strong windstorms, Titan XT shingles are the perfect shingle for you. When compared to three other anonymously branded shingles in the same class and pulled off using the same amount of force, it was not even close — Titan XT from TAMKO outperformed the other shingles in the simulated pull test.

In another pull test, when compared with the same three anonymously branded shingles, Titan XT outdid itself again. This time, a calibrated pull tester that measures resistance in pounds force was used to prove just how hard it is to get the shingles off. Keep in mind, each shingle was reinforced with four nails in it. “Brand A” required 32.2 Ibf to be pulled off, “Brand B” required 10.2 Ibf to be pulled off, “Brand C” required 38.4 Ibf to be pulled off and the Titan XT Shingle required a whopping 46.9 Ibf to be pulled off. On average, the Titan XT Shingle was harder to pull off than the competition by over 20 Ibf. The shingle is also reinforced with a proprietary AnchorLock™ layer that provides a common bond for the nails to lock into.

TAMKO’s Titan XT Shingle is also the roofing industry’s first shingle to offer a WindGUARD™ Warranty. This warranty offers coverage of up to 160 mile per hour winds with only four nails in the nailing zone and use of TAMKO’s starter shingle.

Overall, the Titan XT shingle is being hailed by contractors for its impressive wind resistance and durability, making it an excellent choice for homeowners seeking a reliable and long-lasting roofing solution. So what are you waiting for? Try the Titan XT Shingle out today!
