Jobsite Safety has Never Been More Important

MRCA Jobsite Safety
July 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

The MRCA’s annual ELITE Safety Program Awards recognize companies that keep safety at the top of their list.

Are you making safety a priority within your crew and in your company? Do you understand the importance of your employees feeling safe on the job? Are you constantly developing your company's safety procedures? Do you know the effects on customers that safety standards have? The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) does and they want to recognize those who are doing the most with safety in their companies.

With the coronavirus hitting every corner of the world, safety has never been more important. There must remain a conscientious effort to protect ourselves and others as we continue to work within these unprecedented and unpredictable times.

The MRCA understands the importance of job safety, especially in the roofing industry, since its inception in 1950 and prior to COVID-19’s arrival. That’s why they created their ELITE Safety Awards Program which seeks to recognize MRCA members that demonstrate a steadfast commitment to improving jobsite safety.

The program provides company owners an opportunity to thoroughly evaluate their Safety Program and receive recognition for going above and beyond. All applicants receive detailed feedback about their program from the MRCA, and anyone who is familiar with the company’s safety program can complete the application.

The applications will be reviewed by several MRCA correspondents including the MRCA Legal Counsel Gary Auman of Auman, Mahan & Furry. Any company that submits an application will receive feedback from MRCA on their safety program.

Denise Carnahan, human resources coordinator at T & K Roofing & Sheet Metal Co. had this to say about the MRCA’s ELITE Safety Awards Program, “We truly appreciate the review of our safety practices and help that MRCA provides us to continue working safely and bringing our guys home each night!”

Applications must be submitted by September 15, 2020 and open on July 27th. You can find the applications on the MRCA’s website. Winners will be announced in December and will be recognized in November of 2021 during the MRCA Conference and Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association ELITE Safety Awards Program recognizes member companies that have demonstrated a commitment to improving jobsite safety through development, implementation, and enforcement of a safety and risk management program. This program also encourages and recognizes roofing contractors who strive to maintain excellence in areas of business management, technical knowledge and safety practices.
