As a trusted supplier of roofing systems solutions for more than 150 years, Johns Manville knows contractors don’t want to sacrifice strength for ease of use. That’s why JM is excited to announce the launch of ENRGY 3® HD cover board. At 80 psi, ENRGY 3® HD provides high compressive strength and increased resistance to damage from sources such as hail, foot traffic, construction loads and normal roof maintenance.
The new cover board provides greater R-Value than a gypsum cover board* but is significantly lighter weight*: A half-inch 4x8 ENRGY 3® HD board weighs approximately 85% less than a comparable half-inch 4x8 gypsum board*.
ENRGY 3® HD’s weight advantage makes it easier to handle, providing labor and installation efficiencies, as well as easy hoisting, staging and maneuvering around the roof. It also allows for easy and efficient scoring, cutting and snapping, which permits fast, tight fabrication in a low-dust environment. All of which can add up to time and cost savings.
Additionally, ENRGY 3® HD boards can offer shipping efficiencies, with approximately three times more material per truckload than gypsum products*. That means fewer trucks to deliver to the jobsite, potentially saving money and limiting environmental impact.
In 2022, transportation accounted for 28% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, and needing fewer trucks to deliver materials can contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of any job. ENRGY 3® HD can be used as a substrate in mechanically attached and induction- welded systems with any JM single ply membrane and is eligible for a Peak Advantage® Guarantee of up to 30 years, depending on the assembly.
