Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Building Envelopes Course

ATAS Innovative Technologies
June 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

The course is approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) continuing education system for one LU/HSW, and by Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI) for one CE hour.

In the May issue of Architectural Record, ATAS International offers a new course entitled “Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Building Envelopes – Solar Air Heated Walls, Cool Roofs and Walls, and Solar Ready Roof Design”.

In this course, architects, designers, engineers, contractors, and building managers learn how to enhance a building’s energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality with the strategic use of metal systems on the building envelope.  This includes transpired solar collectors that preheat ventilation air for a building’s use in the winter and perform insulation functions in the summer.  The metal envelope strategy also includes cool roofing and roofing that is solar ready.  These systems take advantage of natural forces to create very favorable low or no maintenance returns on investment.  The course teaches learners how to design buildings that save energy, reduce heat island effects, and provide environmental quality for building occupants.

The first part of the course can be found in the May issue of Architectural Record magazine and is completed online in their CE Center.  Alternatively, it can be found in its entirety by clicking this link.  Upon finishing the course, and completing a quiz, the learning units will be reported directly to an AIA member’s transcript.  As well, a certificate of completion can be obtained for training records and self-reporting of credits.

ATAS offers many continuing education courses.  All of them are approved by the AIA for one LU/HSW, and four of them are also approved by GBCI for one CE hour.  Information for all of the courses can be found at https://www.atas.com/aiaandgbciapprovedseminars.  Two of the courses are available for on-demand online learning.  Most of the courses can be offered to a firm in-person and are now available virtually.  To request a virtual or in-person seminar, go to https://www.atas.com/request-a-seminar.
