This Veterans Day IKO Industries ROOFPRO Jen Silver of Utah Roofing is giving back to the community by celebrating a veteran.
When Jen came across Doug’s nomination, she knew that he had earned a free roof replacement. Doug served his country from 1981 to 1985. “My dad is so proud to be a veteran and he's so happy he was able to serve his country, so I think just being able to have this gift given to him on his special day it just means so much to him,” says Doug’s daughter. “He didn’t cry when I told him I was pregnant, but when he found out we were getting a new roof he cried.”
Doug is the perfect candidate for a new roof. He is the kind of person who is willing to give the shirt off his back but not replace his roof. “I didn't think I was going to win, I mean, I think there's a lot more deserving people that should have won it, but I'm thankful for it.” says Doug. “Jen, Katie and Cassandra came to the door with the balloons and stuff to surprise me and tell me that I had won the contest to get a new roof.”
He chose IKO Dynasty shingles because of the high-definition shingle colors that upgrade his home’s curb appeal while offering superior performance. “I'm really glad he chose dynasty because of the high-definition colors it's going to look great from the street,” says Jen. “Roofing Utah and I are grateful for the various partners that have helped us be able to give this roof to Doug and that includes SRS Distribution.”
Jen is honored to be able to provide a veteran with a new roof this Veterans Day and feels this is the most privilege she’s had in her roofing business. “I have a ton of family who have been in the military, I was a military spouse,” she explains. “I know the sacrifice that it takes and so to be able to honor someone on a day like today is the utmost privilege that I probably had as a business owner.”
