IKO continues to save contractors time and money

IKO continues to save contractors time and money
March 17, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

From TPO welding and induction systems to a new app, IKO has their contractors top of mind.

While at the International Roofing Expo (IRE), The Coffee Shops™ crew got the chance to sit down with a variety of incredible industry professionals for interviews on our soundstage, sponsored by SRS Distribution. In one such interview, Heidi J. Ellsworth chatted with Matt Barmore of IKO Industries. Matt is the senior product and technical manager for IKO’s single ply systems in both the United States and Canada.

Matt shared a bit of what was going on at the IKO booth, saying, “This year at the booth we're doing a couple of different demonstration, which is something we've done since we launched at IRE in 2022.” One of their demos showcases induction welded systems and how IKO products (like their membrane and insulation) work with induction welding in a way that saves contractors time and money. The other demo was called “Weld It Yourself!” Matt explained, “We've heard from our contractor partners since we launched that our TPO is not only flexible, but easy to weld. We thought, ‘Well let's just let folks try it.’ So, we set up a table and got some hand welders and folks have been having a great time. They get to weld it, we walk them through the steps, and then we do a tear test with them where they can test the strength of the weld that they've just completed.”

Both of these demos are great examples of how IKO not only produces high-quality products but listens to the contractors who are working with those products in the field. This can also be seen in one of the upcoming IKO projects that Matt teased. He explained, “We're launching a technical app very soon. It's called IKO Roof Access, and it's all our technical documents. This allows a contractor, consultant or architect to have it on in their hand on the roof. They can call up detail drawings, installation instructions, product data sheets, safety data, anything they need right there.” This is just one more way the team at IKO is working to help professionals in the field save more time, which we all know is money too.

Watch the full interview to hear more about IKO’s plans for the next year, including some geographic expansion goals!
