In Season 4, Episode 60 of Roofing Road Trips, Jeff Littleton of All Points Tile and Gary Hines of A&G United Roofing came on the podcast to shed a little insight about overcoming the obstacles of getting your custom tiles approved.
When getting your roofing tiles approved, one step that’s often overlooked is getting it approved by the HOA. “If the homeowner says, ‘I just want a custom blend, but it just needs to be approved by the HOA,’ then what I'm going to do is look at that HOA and see what colors they allow. And then I look at what I have in stock that we can put together,” Jeff explained. “But now if someone really wants to be involved in it and they really want to get something that's personal to them, then I'll talk to them, I'll see what their vision is. And then we try to see if we can put together some kind of a blend.”
The good news is that once the roof is approved by the HOA and you find the perfect tile blend for you, you’ll have your roof up in no time. Gary said, “As soon as [the customer] picks out what they want, I typically rip off the roof in less than a week and have it inspected.”
Gary continued, “[When] they know the kind of colors they want, it's time effective. They don't have to wait 14 or 16 weeks. And that's really where they're excited, and that’s where having a relationship with your roofer helps, because otherwise you're going to wait up to 24 weeks.”
