How Sustainable PVC Membranes Can Be

Recently, IB Roof Systems developed a calculator to discover when their products become carbon neutral. The tool is being brought to both homeowners and building owners who want to make informed and greener choices. 

“Using a study from Department of Energy, electrical intensity grids from the Environmental Protection Agency, our environmental product declaration and environmental consultants to verify our formulas, we were able to combine everything to our carbon calculator,” says Shawn. “And what we found was amazing.”  

Building owners certainly agree. The feedback has been fantastic as more and more owners and corporations are realizing that they can own a carbon neutral roof. “So many building owners are demanding and seeking sustainable, more environmentally friendly solutions,” says Jason. “And now to have a third party validated carbon neutral calculator that can show them, on this building, this is the year or even month and year that your product will become carbon neutral, it’s incredible.” 

Shawn adds that the commitment to sustainability with their PVC membranes goes much deeper than just being carbon neutral with a reflective membrane. It is also about going about their business in a way that's going to be more environmentally friendly and reduce carbon emissions. “It involves everything about the whole business model, how you go to market, how you ship, how you distribute, it's all encompassing,” says Shawn.  “Every aspect of the PVC reflective membrane leads to the most sustainable roofing product in the industry today.” 

Greener practices are not only a smarter business practice but are a win for the contractor and building owner. “Including an IB PVC on the roof is just another incredible step to making buildings more environmentally friendly and more sustainable,” says Jason.
