Today, Holcim Building Envelope was named one of Newsweek’s “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2023.” This distinction caps an eventful year that saw the company grow and restructure, all the while maintaining its commitment to powering progress for people and the planet.
“Our commitment to diversity has yielded more innovation and collaboration at every level of the organization,” said Jamie Gentoso, President, Holcim Building Envelope and Global Head, Holcim Solutions & Products. “Our differences make us stronger, and knowing our teammates are our most fundamental and important asset, I’ve worked hard to instill inclusivity in our hiring, training and promotion processes – especially as a female in an industry predominantly led by men.”
Newsweek, in cooperation with Plant-A Insights Group, conducted a large-scale employee study to determine America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity in 2023. The study analyzed over 350,000 anonymous reviews from employees of U.S. companies with more than 1,000 employees.
Gentoso herself takes any opportunity possible to reach young people and sing the praises of the construction industry, emphasizing their opportunity to make a real difference in the world. “The construction industry is used to operating a certain way,” Gentoso continued. “Our diversity initiatives not only provide chances for talented individuals with backgrounds that don’t fit the industry’s antiquated mold, but these teammates prove every day that diverse perspectives and innovation go hand in hand.”
