The Graham Athletic and Wellness Center was opened in 2021 at Philadelphia’s William Penn Charter School, more than 330 years after the school was founded. The new building offers everything from a rock-climbing wall to a wrestling room, giving the school community a great place to work out at the oldest Quaker school in the world. So how did school officials ensure that this new building still had the old-world charm of the rest of the historic campus?
Working with EwingCole, the school turned to the authentic look of composite slate using DaVinci Roofscapes Single-Width Slate shingles to get the best of both worlds. DaVinci’s authentic composite slate roofing helps the school cherish its past while bringing the campus into the future.
Now, atop the Graham Athletic and Wellness Center sits a roof that blends in seamlessly with the authentic slate of the other buildings while offering a much more low-maintenance solution.
Check out the entire case study to learn more about how DaVinci helped this school maintain its historic look while offering the many benefits of a composite slate shingle.
