Get Involved in a CRA Community Service Committee

CRA Community Service Committee
October 20, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

By Colorado Roofing Association (CRA).

The Roof Over Your Head Program connects local CRA members with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate in their community.

One of the best things about the roofing industry is the clear commitment to giving back. This is apparent in the Colorado Roofing Association’s prioritization of community work through volunteer service.

Since 2015, the CRA has partnered with Habitat for Humanity, providing material and labor to build new homes for those in need. CRA invited their members to help with the planning, coordination and implementation of roofing projects for the organization and others, including Home for Troops, Rebuilding Together and other non-profit charities. This Committee also oversees the Rob McReynolds Raise the Roof Charity Fund annual giving campaigns and distribution. Good organization and project management skills are beneficial.

Habitat houses are new construction projects, typically with simple roof lines ranging between 13-22 squares. No tear-offs or permits are involved, making the process clean and straightforward. Both GAF & CertainTeed have their own partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, which allows for a simple material access process as well!

CRA is looking for roofing contractors to donate their time and labor for the following projects:

  • Blue Spruce Affiliate

  • September: 17 square, 2-story, 8/12 pitch: 58 S. Ball St., Empire

  • September: 17 square, 2-story, 8/12 pitch: 64 S. Ball St., Empire

CRA does have other locations and later dates. If you want to help this fall/winter, let us know that too.

Note: For CRA member requirements, this is a good way to earn Continuing Involvement Units for 2021 before the end of the year. Community service projects are worth eight CIUs.

CRA is also looking for members to serve on their Community Service Committee to help them give back to the community in new ways. Volunteering makes an impact on your own life and well-being and allows you to connect with your community, expand your network, make new friends and just plain make a difference.

Let's do this together! The benefits that a safe, DRY and affordable shelter can have on families and communities who partner with Habitat for Humanity can be long-lasting and life-changing. Together, we can help a family!

Whether you can volunteer for committee or help on a project, interested parties should contact Debbie at the CRA office by email at debbie@coloradoroofing.org, by phone at 303-484-0549. Thank you to these companies who have helped this year and in past years!
