GCP’s flagship product, GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD® self-adhered roofing underlayment and VYCOR® enV-S™ self-adhered weather-resistive barrier, will be featured on the Emmy Award-winning TV series this fall.
“It is always a pleasure working with the This Old House® crew, a highly trusted brand and team of respected home renovation experts,” said Rob Abbott, Residential Sales Director for GCP Applied Technologies. “We are proud that they chose GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD® roofing underlayments and our line of VYCOR® flashing products again this year to protect this coastal home from Mother Nature.”
GRACE ICE & WATER SHIELD® self-adhered roofing underlayment is a premier membrane composed of an aggressive rubberized asphalt adhesive and a robust, slip-resistant film. The rubberized asphalt surface is backed with a foldless release paper that protects its adhesive quality. During application, the release paper is easily removed, allowing the rubberized asphalt to bond tightly to the roof deck. The Ripcord® embedded in the adhesive provides the applicator a “split release on-demand” feature.
It is a versatile underlayment material that can be used on sloped roofs and under mechanically attached roof coverings such as asphalt shingles, slate, tile, cedar and standing seam metal in many climate and assembly conditions.
The VYCOR® enV-S™ membrane represents the next generation of weather resistive barriers and is designed to provide superior weather protection and improved energy performance versus traditional materials. The product brings together the weather protection benefits of a self-adhered membrane with the breathability of traditional housewraps. The unique adhesive coating bonds strongly to the sheathing, but remains vapor permeable. The VYCOR® enV-S™ membrane resists damage in windy conditions, leading to less rework and a high-quality appearance.
Unlike conventional building wraps, installation of the VYCOR® enV-S™ weather resistive barrier requires no mechanical fastening or taping of seams. The membrane bonds to the sheathing, seals at overlaps and seals around fasteners used to install siding and other wall elements. This results in exceptionally low levels of air leakage and improved energy efficiency of the building.
