As part of a thirteen year-long partnership, GAF, a Standard Industries company and North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, provided support to Habitat for Humanity’s Carter Work Project, which was held in St. Paul, Minnesota from September 29th to October 4th, 2024. Now in its 38th year and taking on Twin Cities Habitat’s largest-ever development project, Carter Work Project aims to build safe, affordable homes for those in need. Along with the donation materials and training, dozens of team members from GAF’s Minneapolis plant are volunteering their time to this project and in support of the local community.
With a continued commitment to building resilient communities, GAF donated 40 roofing systems, which assisted in the construction of more than 1,000 housing units in the Twin Cities. Of the materials donated was GAF Energy’s Timberline Solar™ Energy Shingle, the world’s first solar shingle that can be nailed down, as well as 40 solar energy systems. GAF also provided expert training to all nonprofit partners involved in this year’s project. Led by GAF Roofing Academy professionals, partners learned the basics of a residential roofing system, as well as safe, proper installation techniques.
Since 2011, GAF, and its national network of GAF-certified contractors, have supported the roofing installation on over 3,800 roofing systems to Habitat affiliates across the U.S., impacting more than 15,500 individuals. GAF is proud to offer continued support to the Carter Work Project as a part of its social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters, which is focused on making a positive difference as neighbors and partners in the community.
