GAF and Peru City officials unveil state-of-the-art commercial roofing manufacturing facility to serve midwest region

The state-of-the-art facility was strategically designed to expand and increase manufacturing capacity to serve GAF customers in the Midwest region and beyond.

GAF, a Standard Industries company and North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, in partnership with the City of Peru, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new GAF Peru polyiso insulation manufacturing plant on Tuesday, July 16.

The celebratory event featured remarks from local city officials and GAF, demonstrations from the GAF CARE team on the products produced at the new facility and tours of the new plant. Attendees included Ken Kolowski, mayor of Peru, Peru City officials, John Altmeyer, chief executive officer, GAF, Randy Bargfrede, chief operations officer, GAF, Gary Ashley, GAF-Peru plant manager, local and state officials and certified contractors from the region.

The state-of-the-art facility was strategically designed to expand and increase manufacturing capacity to serve GAF customers in the Midwest region and beyond. It has already brought 70 advanced manufacturing and engineering jobs to the local Peru community. In addition to manufacturing GAF EnergyGuard Polyiso and EnergyGuard NH Polyiso Insulation, the 450,000 sq. ft. plant possesses enhanced technologies to manufacture custom and tapered design polyiso insulation, as well as composite polyiso insulation board.

“This facility marks a major milestone and will allow us to make and deliver the highest quality products for our customers across the region,” said Gary Ashley, GAF-Peru plant manager. “Peru has welcomed us at every stage and we are excited to celebrate this moment alongside those who helped make this facility happen. We are proud to call such a strong and supportive community our home.”

The new Peru facility is GAF’s fifth polyiso insulation manufacturing plant and first in the Bureau County, Illinois community. Over the last year, GAF has committed to making a positive impact in the Peru community and supporting the city and its residents. Recently, GAF awarded grant donations to local non-profit groups to support and further enable their work in the community.
