GAF, A-Team Construction and ABC Supply partner with Haven for Heroes to provide new roofs for local service members

A-Team Construction donated the installation labor, ABC Supply donated project materials and GAF donated the roofing materials in collaboration as part of GAF's social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters.

Skip Varley, a local service member currently serving with the 34th Military Police Company as a squad leader and a full-time human resources officer, and Phil Hammond, a veteran who has been serving in the Army National Guard for 11 years recently received brand new roofs from GAF, A-Team Construction, ABC Supply and Haven for Heroes.

Three years ago, Varley experienced a devastating house fire that destroyed his home and all of his personal belongings. While insurance covered the cost of interior reconstruction, they did not address the damaged roof, which resulted in ongoing leaks and further interior damage. Varley found himself in a challenging position and unable to afford the necessary roof repairs on his own.

Hammond and his wife were facing a similar predicament with their home's roof: significant water damage had led to ongoing roof issues. With the mounting costs of addressing both the roof problems and the resulting interior damage, the Hammonds found themselves in a difficult financial situation, unable to fund the extensive repairs on their own ahead of the impending winter.

Fortunately, A-Team Construction partnered with Haven for Heroes, a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to helping veterans like Varley and Hammond, GAF, North America’s largest roofing manufacturer, and ABC Supply, a leader in supplying and serving contractors, to resolve the longstanding issues, ensuring both Varley and Hammond have safe, dry homes once again.
