When searching for a job in the roofing industry, having the right partner can make all the difference. Hi-Peak Staffing Solutions, led by co-owners Kristin and Tony Case, is committed to building relationships with every individual and working hard to find them the perfect position. In a recent interview, Kristin and Tony walked us through the job search process from the candidate’s perspective and shared some valuable tips to help you stand out from the start.
Did you know that a hiring manager will only spend about seven seconds looking at your resume? That’s why it’s critical to make an impact quickly. Highlight your career growth, including any certifications, education and knowledge of specific software relevant to the industry. These elements can set you apart from other candidates.
One of the first things Kristin emphasized was the importance of transferrable skills. You don’t need specific industry experience to be the perfect fit for a job. Think about the skills you already have that can translate well onto a resume. For example, experience in customer service, project management or technical skills can all be relevant at a roofing company.
Job stability is a critical factor that employers consider when reviewing resumes. Kristin explained, “Companies get really leery about someone who’s had 10 jobs in the past three years. They’re worried about investing time and resources into training someone who might leave shortly after.” Highlighting any period of job stability can make a significant difference. Worried about how to emphasize this on your resume? A recruiter can help, and Kristin and Tony make it their mission to learn as much as they can about your work experience, motivations and personality to help you find your perfect fit.
“It’s our responsibility as the recruiter to do a good job in qualifying that person, understanding their strengths and getting to know their personality to see if it’s a good match for [the company],” Kristin shared. Think of them as your modern-day cover letter, helping your personality shine through on paper.
Once you’ve secured an interview, it’s essential to do your homework. Research the company thoroughly and come prepared with questions. Showing that you have taken the time to learn about the company demonstrates your interest and commitment. Tony added, “We want candidates to be themselves, speak technically through their experiences and then it’s up to the company to understand if that person is the right fit for them.” They build relationships with both candidates and clients, and their job as recruiters is not complete until you walk in for your first day of work.
Hi-Peak Staffing Solutions is more than just a recruitment agency; they’re your partner in finding the perfect job in the roofing industry. They build strong and authentic relationships with every candidate to help them find positions where they can thrive in a lasting career.
