RoofersCoffeeShop® prides itself in the ability to connect and support the industry through the influencer program. This program creates a platform for industry experts to share what has helped them succeed and help others find their own successes. To help facilitate this, these influencer recieve a question or prompt every month. These are tailored to be releant to current or common challenges in the industry. For February, we're focusing on working with subcontractors!
Question: What steps do you take to ensure your subcontractor's work and safety is aligned with your company to avoid risk?
Here's what influencer Patrick Cochran from Red Dog’s Roofing had to say in response:
Our company culture focuses on safety, quality work and customer service. Prior to working with new subcontractors we have an interview to make sure our values and processes align. Prior to the start of a project the scope of work is covered to ensure the subcontractor knows what is expected. At that time any and all safety considerations are outlined for the subcontractor to be aware of and consider.
During construction, we have a quality assurance manager on site that inspects quality of the work and documents the process. We also have a SR project manager who reviews pictures for quality and to assist with catching any install errors.
As for safety, we have a manual that outlines are expectations. Subcontractors are required to supply and enforce their own safety program when working on our jobsites. When our project managers are present, any safety violations are addressed and documented internally.
Our reputation through our safety, quality workmanship and customer service is important and aligning with the right subcontractors is crucial to our success.
