As an outsider looking into the roofing world, I’m continuing to learn about more and more products that are key to roofing. Rooftops can be heavily trafficked areas, whether people are walking around for maintenance purposes or socializing on a rooftop patio. Duro-Last, Inc. has a dedication to developing high quality, industry-leading products for their customers and their commercial roofing needs. Recently, they introduced Duro-Last Roof Pavers, which join their Roof-Trak® III Walkway Pads, as a sustainable solution for high-traffic rooftop needs.
It is becoming increasingly important to consumers that the products they use are sustainable. According to a Nielsen report from 2018, “A new era of sustainability is rising and it’s touching every corner of the world. Driven in part by consumers, governments, corporations and the growing visible effects of pollution, sustainability initiatives are becoming more ubiquitous, more aggressive, and more expected.” Duro-Last has risen to the occasion and met this consumer demand and now offers a variety of recycled and sustainable products for commercial rooftops.
In general, roof pavers are used to provide a flat area for rooftop patios, work areas, or when there’s a lot of traffic or maintenance that gets done on the roof. Duro-Last has developed its own paver system that utilizes 100% recycled vinyl and features a half-inch thick top layer above a half-inch thick bottom layer with channels to allow for water flow. The 24-inch by 24-inch pavers link together like puzzle pieces and can be loose laid on the rooftop for easy installation. Additionally, Duro-Last Roof Pavers are compatible with all Duro-Last membranes, eliminating the need for slip sheets or separators.
In addition to Roof Pavers, Duro-Last’s Roof-Trak III Walkway Pads are also made from recycled PVC and are crucial to providing traction for maintenance personnel. They also help prevent deterioration of the roof surface due to frequent rooftop traffic, don’t require any maintenance, and can withstand the elements in any climate. Additionally, Roof-Trak III Walkway Pads can also provide protection around mechanical equipment and can be used as separators for sleepers that provide support to mechanical equipment.
Roof-Trak III Walkway Pads are available in a variety of sizes and feature a four-inch factory welded membrane skirt for easy attachment to the field membrane. Skirts can be manufactured in either white or yellow for added safety precaution.
Duro-Last is doing its part to develop sustainable products that keep people safe on rooftops and meet the industry’s diverse needs. To learn more about Duro-Last and its full line of commercial roofing products, visit their website at www.duro-last.com.
