Double the Pipes, Double the Strength

S-5! Double the Pipes
August 10, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.

By S-5!

The state-of-the art DualGard™ two-pipe snow bar system provides added strength and quality for metal roofs.

S-5!®, the leading manufacturer of metal roof attachment systems, has an innovative snow retention system that’s perfect for your metal roof. DualGard is a two-pipe continuous snow bar system that offers extra strength and quality. It is compatible with most metal roof profiles and can be powder-coated or anodized to match any color.

Components

  • DualGard™ Bracket
  • DualPipe™
  • DualClip™
  • DualGard™ Splice
  • DualCollar™
  • DualGard™ EndCaps

The one-inch diameter, two-pipe aluminum DualGard bracket design provides lateral system stability and utilizes two anchor points per bracket to reduce the moment arm for added strength. For standing seam metal roofs, it utilizes two S-5! Mini clamps per bracket, providing a broad base of attachment when compared with other two-pipe systems.

Installation

  1. Prepare the assembly by pre-loading the setscrews into each clamp and DualCollar™ prior to commencing installation.
  2. Install the first row of S-5! Mini clamps to support the downslope end of the DualGard bracket.
  3. Prepare pipe/bracket/clamp/assembly by sliding the correct number of DualGard brackets onto the pipes.
  4. Attach the second row of S-5! Mini Clamps with attached pipe brackets
  5. Install pipe splices
  6. Complete assembly and add final components

Customers want to know...

Q: Should there be multiple rows of assembly used?

A: At a minimum, this is determined by the specific design roof snow load of the project, roof size and slope. The resulting force acting on the snow guard system is then matched to the tested (by certified lab) strength of the system on the specific roof type, seam style and material. Because of the broad mix of variables in this regard, S-5! systems have been tested on more than 1,000 different combinations. To make it easy for the designer and contractor, that database of tested systems is what backs up the S-5! web-based “Snow Calculator”. The user simply fills in a few fields, and the calculator does the rest for him with output of job-specific service loads, how many rows are required and certifiable engineering calculations to prove it all.
