Delivering Emergency Food and Hosting Blood Drives

Antis Delivering Emergency Food
April 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

By Lauren White, RCS Reporter.

Antis Roofing and Waterproofing is supporting their local community during this time of need.

During these trying times, many people, businesses and organizations are giving back in various ways.  Charles Antis, the Founder and CEO of Antis Roofing and Waterproofing, and an RCS Influencer, shares, “As I look at what’s going on when I wake up in the morning, I wonder, ‘How do I lead?  What do I say internally, inside the company, and externally in the community?’” Charles, along with the Antis Roofing team have found a few ways to volunteer with and donate to their southern California community.

“Right now, at Antis Roofing we’re looking at how do we keep our families safe and dry?  But beyond that, we’re looking at how do we build the bridge all the way to everyone, no matter what?”  One of the biggest needs they have identified is those who are food insecure, which is why Antis Roofing partnered with Waste Not OC.  This organization brings excess food from restaurants, grocery stores, schools, and other entities, and distributes it to food pantries that serve those who are food-insecure.  The Antis Roofing team is supporting this organization by volunteering with them and providing donations.

Recently, Charles and the Antis Roofing team joined others as part of the Harvest Truck Brigade to distribute food to children, families, and seniors who are food-insecure.  Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County enacted their food distribution crisis plan to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.  This means they are looking for volunteers with open bed pickup trucks to help deliver boxes of shelf-stable food door-to-door.  Antis Roofing happily volunteered stating, “We’re honored to deliver emergency food to folks who are hungry…”

Waste Not Our Communities, Orange County Food Bank, and other organizations are also doing what they can to keep families fed during this time.  Antis Roofing posted, “Thank you Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Waste Not OC Coalition and Orange County Food Bank for taking the lead to keep our community fed during these unprecedented times.”

Another way Antis Roofing is helping their community is by hosting a blood drive.  They posted, “We are supporting the American Red Cross by offering up to 6,000 square feet of space at the Antis Campus for the next 60 days to host blood drives.”  Due to the coronavirus, thousands of blood drives have been cancelled across the country. “Here in Southern California, there have been more than 260 blood drives cancelled due to coronavirus concerns, resulting in 9,000 uncollected blood donations,” Antis Roofing shares.  And across the country, nearly 4,000 blood drives have been cancelled, meaning there are approximately 100,000 fewer blood donations, according to Antis Roofing. The need for these donations is urgent.

Healthy individuals are encouraged to donate to maintain the nation’s blood supply.  The first blood drive at the Antis Campus will be held on April 6! The Red Cross is implementing additional precautions to ensure the sanitation and safety of blood drive centers, donors, and staff members.  They are using sterile collection sets, beds are six feet apart when possible, hand sanitizer is readily available, temperature checks are done for donors and staff before they enter the blood drive, and all donor-touched surfaces are wiped down.

Charles shares, “Hopefully we can look back, a couple of years from now, and say, ‘Wow!  This was the moment we as people had our awakening. This is the moment that we took care of our families, and we took care of everyone in the community.’”

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
