Burbank firefighters were called to the fire early in the morning on February 20, after light smoke was reported coming from the attic of the two-story home.
The Cohen family managed to escape unharmed, with their house intact, thanks to the robustness and durability of their 30-year DECRA roof in a fire.
The fire department even said to the family, after they had put out the fire, "the roof you had, saved your house."
"I recall 30 years ago, my father in 1987, was crazy about the lightweight, metal DECRA type of roof," says son Victor Cohen. "I was a teenager, and I told my dad, we want tiles, we want the hacienda look. But, no he said this lightweight metal was perfect, and he used the DECRA product and was very happy with it. And, 30 years later, we have the benefit of what that meant."
The Cohen family are replacing their damaged roof with the exact same DECRA Tile again, but not after they stopped by the company’s Corona-based manufacturing site to say thank you.
