Dealing With Roof Ponding Water? Lay Some Rubber!

Kool Seal Tundra Roof Restoration Coatings
November 16, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt.

Learn how a silicone, rubberized roof coating can withstand ponding water on low slope and moderate slope roofs.

Roof ponding is something that no building owner wants to deal with, but unfortunately might have to at some point. Ponding water can lead to larger problems over time, like leaks, and it can shorten the lifespan of a roof. That’s why Kool Seal has designed Tundra™ Silicone Rubberized Roof Coating to provide maximum ponding water protection.

The Tundra Silicone Rubberized Roof Coating is made from premium silicone rubber that provides superior roof protection for low slope and moderate slope roofs (<3:12 pitch). When installed properly, this monolithic coating creates a seamless rubberized layer that protects roofs from ponding water. It also has a UV resistant white coating that can help your more budget-conscious customers save money on cooling costs.

This roof coating can adhere to most types of roofing materials, including metal, single-ply, smooth BUR, concrete, EPDM and more! It provides excellent flow and leveling to every roof it's installed on. It also has great dirt pickup resistance which helps the coating stay clean for longer than other roof systems. And no primer is needed for installation!

Once installed, the roof is rain safe after 60 minutes and it can be recoated after six hours. The Tundra Silicone Rubberized Roof Coating fully cures after 72 hours depending on the temperature and humidity of the environment it’s being installed in. It is available in one color, white, and can be ordered in one gallon, five gallon or 55-gallon quantities. Plus, it can be used to coat the roofs of RVs. To clean it up, Kool Seal recommends using 100% virgin mineral spirits.
