Mike from Fischer Flat Roof Pros in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, sent RoofersCoffeeShop.com this intriguing photo. We often acknowledge the roofing installers but it's time the guys on the ground (most of the time), get their due. We asked him to explain what he was doing.
"On this building there is some very difficult angles to measure correctly for creating the layout later in google sketch up. So when faced with difficult angles I try to find the buildings blue prints to see what I can capture from them. In this case it was a really old set of prints from the basement."
Using the window as a "lightbox" I was able to trace the angle roof area more accurately get the layout before attempting to measure the area.
Once I have a more accurate layout I was able to take it with me without the hassle of going to a printers somewhere to get a copy of the print, or using my phone. Instead I have an exact copy to scale before I leave the site. Or in this case before I went up on the roof."
Thanks Mike for all your hard work!
