By Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA).
Founder of State Roofing Company in California, Larry Davis served as a director on the Western States Roofing Contractor’s Association Board of Directors and was active on several committees, often flying to meetings with his wife Mary in their private airplane.
In 1995, while flying back from a WSRCA board meeting, Larry and his wife Mary died in a plane accident. To acknowledge Larry's invaluable contribution to the industry, the Western States Roofing Contractors Association formalized their charitable endeavors and created the Davis Memorial Foundation, honoring Larry and Mary’s belief that education is the key to the industry’s future success.
Now the Davis Memorial Foundation is in its 24th year, supporting higher education and improving the construction industry. The foundation gives aid to students who want to attend a trade school, or get a university degree relating to the industry. The foundation especially encourages its employees, spouses and children of roofing industry professionals to apply.
The Davis Memorial Foundation awards scholarships each year to individuals who want to further their education. This year, based on the generous support of their members, the Davis Foundation is now offering scholarships at $5,000 each for 2021. Anyone who is interested in furthering his or her education is eligible for a Davis Memorial Foundation scholarship. All students are encouraged to apply!
Awards are based on academic/personal achievement, financial need and other factors, as deemed appropriate by the Trustees. Don’t delay – completed applications are due to the WSRCA office postmarked no later than April 9, 2021.
