Crafting a roofing legacy

IKO Crafting roofing legacy
September 2, 2024 at 12:00 p.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Learn how IKO Industries is supporting generations of roofing success.

IKO Industries was founded in the early 1950s and made their first asphalt shingle in 1954. From there, the company grew beyond their eastern Canadian beginning into the international manufacturer we all know today. But, through it all, IKO has not only remained a family owned business, but has made a conscious effort to support other family owned businesses in the industry. One of the ways they do this is through their ROOFPRO® program. This helps contractors connect to resources that help them serve their customers better. In a video for IKO, Cody Marr from Adanac Roofing and Gutters in British Columbia shared how being an IKO ROOFPRO Contractor helps him and his company level up their contracting game.

Adanac Roofing and Gutters was founded and still run by Dan Marr. He got into the industry early and was leading his own crew by the time he turned 21. For him, roofing is more than work, it is his heritage and his legacy. Before him, his father was a roofing tile manufacturer and Cody, his son, is his assistant manager. Cody shared with IKO a bit of his father’s story of starting the company, “My father started the company and it originally started down in the States and he thought it was funny being Adanac because no one really knew that was Canada backwards.”

Today, Cody, Dan and Adanac Roofing and Gutters operate out of British Columbia, Canada and are proud to serve their community by going above and beyond homeowners’ expectations. They do this by ensuring their installations are factory-certified, their warranties extend to up to 50 years for materials (10 for workmanship) and their craftsmanship is periodically inspected by third-party consultants. Being an IKO ROOFPRO Contractor and working with IKO shingles falls perfectly in line with these goals. Cody explained, “We like to think we're taking the fear out of hiring a roofing contractor by using top materials with top labor with top experience. Our customers are looking for a quality product that's going to last, that's why we sell them on the IKO products.”
