At the 2025 International Roofing Expo (IRE), Megan Ellsworth sat down with Brian Grohe, director of commercial sales for Velux North America, during a live interview at The Coffee Shops soundstage, sponsored by SRS Distribution. The two discussed how Velux Commercial is making a calculated move to amplify its commercial footprint — something that’s been years in the making but often overshadowed.
“We’ve been in the commercial skylight space for many years now, but we often don’t get the recognition as the main brand,” said Brian. The company’s presence at the IRE show floor represents that shift. With a booth buzzing with energy and questions from both contractors and distributors, VELUX is using the platform to highlight its range of commercial offerings.
“There are a lot of people asking a lot of great questions and a lot of excitement about the products,” Brian said, pointing to the increased visibility the brand is gaining this year.
Attendees were introduced to VELUX innovations in daylighting and ventilation, with the company emphasizing the wellness benefits of skylights — like bringing in natural light and fresh air. These dual-function features are becoming increasingly relevant as builders look to design healthier indoor environments. Attendees could also learn more during a booth interview, where VELUX representatives discussed how their latest products support this growing wellness trend.
The move follows global momentum from last year’s IFD competition in Austria, where VELUX skylights were used in live mockups, demonstrating not only their function but also their design versatility.
VELUX shared some insights into its commercial strategy and as the year continues. and all eyes are on how the brand balances its reputation with its push into a competitive commercial space.
